In keeping with the Supreme Court guidelines, SEC established ICC against sexual harassment and atrocities against women at the workplace. SEC advocates gender equality. We are determined to make sure that the women on our campus are safe and have a healthy environment. In order to achieve this we have formed a gender development cell for institutionalizing the best practices and standard operating procedures which will deal with issues related to women inside the campuses.
Internal Complaint Committee sensitises the female faculty members and students on the prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment of woman at work place. According the Supreme Court’s order, Sexual Harassment is any unwelcome:
• Physical contact and advances.
• Demand or request for sexual favors.
• Sexually coloured remarks.
• Display of pornographic content in any form.
• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal and non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
The Internal Complaint Committee for Women Employees & Studentsof SEC follow section 4 All India Council for Technical Education Regulations, 2016 vide no. F AICTE/WH/2016 (Gender sensitization, prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment of women employees and students and Redressal of Grievances in Technical Institutions), Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) has been formed in SEC to prevent sexual harassment of woman at work place and to curb down the sexual harassment in campus. Apart from monitoring gender-based violence and we also conduct awareness to gender sensitization, workshops and seminars on making people aware of the laws against sexual harassment of women at the workplace address gender pay gap and programmes for all the female students and faculty members on the campus to avail a safe and secure atmosphere Also we provide registration provisions for grievances related to women and sexual harassment complaints on the Student Grievance Redressal cell in our campus.The authorities and committees of SEC treat sexual harassment as misconduct in our service rules and initiate action for such misconduct.
